Our hero falls, briefly

Alert! Stop what you are doing and read this:

Martha had a run-in with the rock hard head of Francesca the dog, requiring emergency stitches.

She’s okay, thank god, and blogs about it like a true lady, bravely including lots of unflattering photos of both the gash on her face and the outdated surrounds of the Northern Westchester Emergency Room.

"Dusty Rose," everyone's favorite color in the 80's

We aren’t used to seeing her this vulnerable and, frankly, wonder if she even knew these photos were being taken at the time.

But by being a bad ass and publishing them, she’s allowed us to feel for a brief moment that she is one of us, that even she can take a random hit and be stitched up in a drab room with unflattering light. Everyone* looks and feels the same in the ER. Some might call it the great equalizer. I call it a place to stay away from at all costs.**

Whatever it is, Martha went there and blogged about it and has risen ten more notches in our book. May she swiftly return to a state of unattainable perfection and to driving us completely insane.

*Some of us look like this every day but, hey, this post is not about us!

**Health care legislation subtext! Health care legislation subtext!

I love this. And, not gonna lie — I totally criticize decorations at hospitals, doctors’ offices, dentists’ offices, and other places that seem to stay in a sad little time warp.

I’d expect this from Genghis Khan, but not Francesca!

Our doctor’s office is so outdated it could be in an exhibit. But I feel better now that I know fancy ol’ Westchester has similar problems.
